GUIDELINES TO STAY SEXUALLY ACTIVE

- DR NARAYANA REDDY

Johnny is besieged with panic as of late, he is unable to make love. He is confused as everybody at home and office obediently dance to his tune but his wretched penis is refusing to oblige. Had he become impotent?

An erection of the penis is dependent on so many physiological variables — hormones, nerves, emotions, the smell and feel of her body, etc — that medical researches still can’t completely understand. No wonder Ryan is unable to understand.

However, almost every man has had trouble in rising to the occasion, sometime or the other. It has been guesstimated that nearly 52 per cent men between 40 and 70 have some degree of problem with their erections.

While there is umpteen number of physical and psychological reasons for Erectile Dysfunction, the most common causes are unhealthy lifestyles and behavioural abuse. Here are a few guidelines to stay sexually active: Eat lean: The most common cause of Erectile Dysfunction is clogging of the penile blood vessels due to plaque formation. The best way to combat these is to eat a lean, low- fat, high- fiber diet. Get off your duff: Regular exercising will help you burn out the extra calories and maintain your weight. Don’t smoke: Nicotine in tobacco makes the inner lining of the blood vessels rough, thus leading to clot formation.

Don’t drink: Alcohol is Central Nervous System Depressant. It also damages the liver which metabolises the male hormone testosterone. Watch your medication: Erectile Dysfunction may occur as side- effects of certain medications you are taking for other disorders like heart problems, high blood pressure, etc. Destress: Stress is the most potent enemy of an erection.
