Ola driver arrested with three aides for carjacking

An Ola driver for who drove himself into crime world was arrested by Delhi police along with his three associates. With the arrest, the police claims to have busted a gang of armed car jackers. The gang used to target cab drivers, said DCP ( southeast) Chinmoy Biswal on Wednesday.

The arrested accused were identified as Dharambir Singh ( 24), Arun Kumar ( 22), Sunil Kumar ( 20), and Pradeep Tomar ( 33). Except Dharambir who hails from Farrukhnag­ar, U. P, the rest of the gang members hail from Noida. A country made pistol has also been recovered from them.

Accused Arun disclosed that he himself used to work as driver in OLA and was well- versed with the working of Ola. He told police that in order to earn quick money, he hatched the conspiracy of looting cabs.

On August 23, an Ola driver reported that, he picked two passengers from Sarai Kale Khan and during their ride to Noida, one of the passengers tied the neck of driver with the seat hood and his associate attacked him and hit him with pistol butt after which he became unconsciou­s and was thrown at an isolated place in Noida. The duo accused robbed his Swift Dzire Car.

On the basis of the technical surveillan­ce, a police team nabbed Sunil, who confessed to the crime and based on his revelation, the raids were conducted in Farukhabad, and his associate Dharambir was arrested and the robbed cab was recovered and seized.

During interrogat­ion, the accused also disclosed that Arun was the kingpin of the gang.
