I- T RAIDS HOUSE OF BIHAR DEPUTY CM’S RELATIVE IN SRIJAN SCAM
The income- tax officials on Thursday carried out massive raids and searches at around eight locations, including the residence of social activist Rekha Modi. Rekha is a distant relative of deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi. Sources claimed that the income- tax department raided her residence in Patna after they stumbled upon several documents which showed her as one of the beneficiaries of the fund which was transferred fraudulently to NGO Srijan Vikas Sahyog Samiti. It has been alleged that government funds were transferred into the account of the NGO between 2004 and 2014. Reports suggest that the NGO used bank and government officials to transfer public funds to their account by forging signatures of the district magistrate. Sources claimed that Rekha is accused of purchasing jewellery worth several crores from the funds which were transferred to the NGO account. On Thursday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, in a tweet, said, “Raids were conducted at the residence of Rekha Modi only to cover the involvement of Sushil Kumar Modi in the Srijan scam. People of Bihar are aware that Sushil Kumar Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are main conspirators of the scam.” Mr Yadav and other Opposition leaders have been claiming that Rekha Modi is the cousin sister of Sushil Kumar Modi. In several of his statements earlier, Mr Yadav had blamed the investigating agencies of shielding her because of her political connections.
