- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The Congress party kicked off the poll process with a meeting of all its departments as well as frontal organisations on Friday.

Departments and cells like All India Mahila Congress, All India Professional Congress, Sewa Dal and the party’s youth and students’ wing and Data and Analytics cell attended the meeting.

Sources said that individual presentations were given by the heads of all the departments and discussion veered around how to ensure better coordination among the various cells.

Before leaving for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, Congress president Rahul Gandhi had called a meeting of the party’s core committee, which includes senior leaders. After the first meeting of its manifesto committee and state treasurers, on Friday the first meeting of all frontal organisation took place.

Sources said that the discussions were on how to coordinate amongst the various bodies and take the party’s message to the people.

Last week the recently appointed manifesto committee of the Congress met for the first time on Monday to start the process of preparing the party’s manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Apart from the manifesto committee, other key election- related panels set up by Congress president Rahul Gandhi have also started meeting.
