Loshini marches into final

Tamil Nadu’s M. Loshini stood out with her technique as she entered the 36kg class final of the 1st Boxing Federation of India sub- junior girls national championsh­ips in Nagpur on Friday.

Loshini won on points ( 5- 0) against Sanjana of Arunachal Pradesh. But this notwithsta­nding, the continuing domination of Haryana boxers who proved their superiorit­y yet again while six players scaled into the finals to make the contest a close affair. The clash between the Tamil Nadu and Arunachal girls, turned out to be a onesided affair with Loshini employing precision punches and solid techniques to stay away from her opponent while punching her way to a unanimous decision from all the five judges. She will take on Nisha of Haryana, who defeated Sweta of Jharkhand, also a 5- 0 decision, in the final on Saturday.

Among the Haryana girls who joined Nisha in the finals are Muskan ( 34 kg), Parineeta ( 38 kg), Prachi Kinha ( 40 kg), Prachi ( 42 kg), Tamanna ( 44 kg) Simran ( 50Kg) Anchal Saini ( 52kg), Priti Dahiya ( 57kg) and Pranjal Yadav ( 63kg).

Maharashtr­a pugilist Shreya lost to Monika of Uttarakhan­d 4- 1 in 44 kg, while her state compatriot­s, Devika ( 42Kg), Madhura ( 54kg) and Sana ( 60kg) entered the final. Both Devika and Madhura beat their opponents 5- 0; while Sana secured the final spot with a split decision.
