London, Sept. 17: Grace Jones is Britain's oldest person. Britain's oldest person credits her long life to whisky, the Daily Mail reported.

112- year- old Grace Jones, from Broadway, Worcs ( UK), reveals she has been drinking a glass of it every night since the age of 50.

Jones was born on September 16, 1906, just five years after the death of Queen Victoria and has lived through the world wars and 26 prime ministers.

She became the oldest person in the country after the death of Olive Evelyn Boar, from Felixstowe, Suffolk, in August at the age of 113, the report revealed.

Jones, who is known to her friends as ‘ Amazing Grace’, has been drinking Famous Grouse single malt whisky for the last six decades.

Jones said, “I never miss my night cap. All I have is the whisky at night. Whisky is very good for you. I started having a nightly tot of it when I turned 50 so I've been having it every night for the last 60 years and I certainly have no intention of stopping now.

“My doctor said ‘ keep up with the whisky Grace, it's good for your heart’.”

She also revealed her fondest memory in all her life was marrying her husband Leonard when she was 27.

Her only child Deirdre McCarthy, 80, is in awe of her extraordinary mum. "My mother is extraordinary. She's still very particular over her appearance and insists on always looking her best,” she is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

Adding, “Each week her carer takes her into Broadway where she likes to do a little shopping if the weather is nice; she is in amazing health but her hearing is a little poor.”
