Shah, senior party leaders to address mega rally, will kick- start BJP’s LS campaign
Delhi BJP is going to put up a grand show of its Poorvanchal might in the national capital on Sunday at the historic Ramlila Maidan.
BJP president Amit Shah and senior Cabinet ministers and prominent leaders will be addressing the “Poor van ch al Mahakumbh”. Mr Shah will be present as the chief guest in the mahakumbh.
About 1.25 lakh Poorvanchalis ( people from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh) residing in national capital are expected to attend this event.
The purpose of this mahakumbh is to show the power of the people of the Purvanchal. After this, the BJP also plans to organise two more rallies in the national capital within a month.
While the Poorvanchali votebank is gradually increasing in the city, BJP wants to keep its share intact. Sources said the exercise also aims at silencing the voice of discontent against Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari in the recent time. The Poorvanchal Morcha of
Delhi BJP is therefore organising the Mahakumbh.
About 1.25 lakh Poorvanchalis residing in the Delhi will participate in the “mahakumbh” on Sunday at Ramlila Maidan, Mr Tiwari told this newspaper.
“Our party president, Mr Shah, will address the gathering along with senior Cabinet ministers and senior party leaders,” he added.
Delhi BJP’s Poorvanchal Morcha president Manish Singh said that preparations are in full swing and multi- level checks are put in place to ensure that 1.25 lakh people from the region attend the mahakhumbh.

preparing the ground for the next Lok Sabha elections, where BJP will be defending all seven parliamentary seats of Delhi. They said that through this rally BJP will be wooing the Poorvanchali voters in the city, which is becoming all the more dominant with the rise of Mr Tiwari, the Bhojpuri superstar- turned- politician, in Delhi’s political landscape.
“The exercise also aims to silence the voices of discontent in the party against the leadership of Delhi BJP president Tiwari,” the source added.
Considering the dominance of Poorvanchali voters, that constitute over 40 per cent of the voting population, BJP central leadership had appointed Mr Tiwari as its city unit president in November 30, 2016. His appointment was followed by BJP’s historic win in the civic polls in April 2017.
In Delhi, there are at least 20 Assembly constituencies that are dominated by the Poorvanchali voters where they constitute 20 to 45 per cent of the vote share. The Poorvanchali dominated seats in Delhi include Burari, Seemapuri, Gokalpuri, Karawal Nagar, Kirari, Badli, Nangloi, Rithala, Matiala, Vikaspuri, Dwarka, Uttam Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Deoli, Badarpur,
