VIVO V11 PRO REVIEW: INNOVATIVE, GLAMOROUS AND AN ALL- ROUNDER

- AMRITANSHU MUKHERJEE

In the world of smartphones, innovation mostly happens in the premium segments and affordable alternatives are left with older technologies in new packages — old wine in a new bottle. However, Vivo shakes up the industry by bringing an in- display fingerprints sensor and a new Halo- notched display with the V11 Pro.

For ` 25,999, the V11 Pro is an absolutely stunning looking device, especially with its almost bezel- less display and a beautiful shimmering gradient finish. The 6.4- inch AMOLED display with almost no bezels and a tiny notch ensures an immersive viewing experience. Consuming content on the V11 Pro is an absolute blast, with the notch hardly obstructing the view. The fourth generation in- display fingerprint sensor is now as fast as a capacitive sensor and, when paired with IR Face Unlock, unlocks the phone before you even blink. The V11 Pro is built around a Snapdragon 660 chip paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which is expandable up to 256GB. With Vivo FunTouch OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo, the phone is zippy on an everyday basis.

The interface is reminiscent of Apple’s older versions of iOS, which may be polarising. However, there’re lots of customisation options for users to play around.

The V11 Pro also impresses with its optics. The 25MP front camera works in conjunction with AI algorithms to deliver crisp and vibrant selfies. Backlight HDR cleverly manages the exposure to keep the subject prominent — one doesn’t need to worry about clicking photos against a light source such as the sun or a spotlight. The 12MP + 5MP setup on the rear also churns out good- looking photos in most lighting situations. However, low light does bring up noise. Portrait mode photos are decent with good edge detection.

With a 3400mAh battery, the V11 Pro almost lasts an entire day with casual usage including texting, clicking photos, streaming video, making calls and light gaming.

On the whole, the V11 Pro scores high on most parameters for a midrange smartphone and is definitely a good buy for those who want something innovative without burning a hole in the wallet.
