Major charged with Delhi maid’s rape

An Army major has been booked for allegedly raping his domestic help in Southwest Delhi in July, the police said on Sunday.

It said a case was registered at the Delhi Cantonment police station on September 25 based on a complaint filed by the woman.

In her plaint the woman alleged that she was raped on July 12, when her husband was away. She alleged that when her husband returned home and saw what was happening, the accused attacked the couple and threatened them. in- laws’ house. However, her husband stayed back.

Later that month, the woman received a call from the Army major, informing her that husband had hanged himself. Subsequent­ly, she approached the police, the report mentioned.

During investigat­ion, police learnt that the woman’s husband had committed suicide in the servant quarter where they used to live. The victim accused that her husband died under mysterious circumstan­ces. She demanded an investigat­ion into his death.

The woman was working at the major’s house even after the rape incident.

The woman was living in the servant’s quarter at the Armyman’s house in Delhi Cantonment with her husband and two- year- old son for the last three months, NDTV reported. She used to cook and clean for him while her husband watered plants and did other errands.

A case has been registered and the matter is being probed.
