The festive season in India is all about bringing together family and friends; and, if you have been looking for some smart ideas to pep your home and set in a celebratory mood then follow these simple tips and tricks to dress up your home for festivals.

For starters, make a layered floral artwork for the entrance or even a centerpiece for your coffee table. Use festively packaged gifts laid out on the console which will give it a festive touch and make your house shine bright like a diamond. Indulge in eclectic shades such as deep orange, amber brown, dandelion yellow, and a lot more suburban shades for a revamp. Raseel Gujral Ansal, Founder, Casa Paradox suggests the prominent colours for a festive season are red, green and blue with a hint of gold. She says, “In terms of fabric and prints, one can go with velvet and animal prints. Themes like monochromatic minimalism, industrial chic, tropical vibes, retro and eclectic trends are always a hit. Just add new rugs, floor lamps, and table lamps, chandeliers, wall art or wallpapers, sculptures, artificial flowers, metal fruits to prop up - and you are good to go.”

Add a touch of light and splash of colours to your regular set up and see a marked difference. Saddam Zaroo, MD of Khazir Sons, suggests, “Add a touch of bronze and gold to your home insights along with a bit of glam and glitter. Add a bunch of flowers on the dining table, festive cutlery and of course copper ornaments from glasses, to bowls and plates to uplift the décor. Place candles and lights on the dinner table and entrance of your home.

Crewel has been trending this festive season, so look for crewel carpets on walls and use this fabric for cushions. You can also place a vase or a paper mache lamp stand on an empty table to light up a dull room. Aromatic candles and essential oils can add a sweet fragrance to your home. String lights are also an elegant way to revamp your room. They create a magical atmosphere. You can drape the lights on an object such as furniture, hang them across a wall or place them in a transparent jar. It will immediately add a festive touch to it.”

Talking about styles, herringbone and chevron patterns continue to rule the décor industry. The herringbone patterns look like classic ancient Roman architecture and are a great asset to those looking to add some oomph and glamour to their interiors. Parul Mittal, Director, Greenlam Industries, thinks bold is the new gold when it comes to festive decor. She suggests, “Experiment with bold colours such as rustic orange, ultraviolet, deep red and different shades of blue and pair them with metallic accents. An antique closet made of brass will not only go well with metallic hues but will also accentuate the look. A vintage royal wood veneer dining table paired with raw silk cushion covered in teal and turquoise blue can embellish your space like never before. Just adding an essence of metallic shades to your furniture can highlight the look to your house and give it that much- needed elegance. To give your home a regal yet understated look, add a silk Persian rug in floral prints under your coffee table and have a perfect seating for a fun card game with your friends.”

With indoor plants, you can give your house a complete makeover without spending much. Strategic placement of plants such as White Lily, Aloe Vera, Snake Plant, English Ivy can add an aesthetic edge to your home.
