Sisodia lauds Thai, Afghan education system

There is a great scope of learning from countries such as Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Afghanista­n in various areas of education and training, Delhi deputy minister Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday.

He was speaking at the Asian Summit on Education and skills hosted by the Delhi government in the cap i t a l . The India Didactics A s s o c i at i o n ( IDA), the exclusive membership associatio­n in India for the education and training fraternity has organised the fifth edition of the Asian Summit on Education and Skills ( ASES) followed by 10th edition of DIDAC India on Wednesday here.

“Platforms such as ASES and DIDAC India play an important role to promote peer learning among countries and educationa­l institutio­ns which is critical for adopting best practices in education. There is a great scope of learning from our counterpar­ts such as Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Afghanista­n in various areas of education and training. Teacher training is one such aspect that is crucial to improve and maintain the quality of our education system especially, the government school system,” Mr Sisodia said.

“Technology in education is another area which we need to focus on and internalis­e. We have to find innovative ways to make education fun. In Delhi, we have already cut down the curriculum by 25 per cent to reduce the burden on students,” he added. Sisodia
