MANAGING OUR HEALTH
QMy
father is 80 plus and has no health issues. His BMI, BP and ECG are okay. Last month, on two occasions, he suddenly felt weightlessness and imbalance, and felt like vomiting. He could not walk without help.
As he was having hearing problems, he was referred to an ENT specialist and then to a neurosurgeon.
An MRI scan was taken. Both surgeons said no action or intervention was required, but advised him not to go out alone or ride a scooter.
Thereafter, this has happened on two more occasions. Could you please explain the possible reasons for these incidents and the remedial action required to prevent this from occurring again? — Rajeev
This could be due to a common problem called vertigo or due to reduced circulation to a certain part of the brain. Management depends on the actual cause, which could be one of the two. A neurologist and an ENT doctor can sort out the problem.

am 58 years old and suffering from pain and stiffness in the place where I was wrongly injected 35 years ago.
Due to this, I cannot even raise my hand. Will this lead to any serious consequences if left untreated? — M. S. Ali
Thirty- five years is a long time. What you are describing may or may not be related to the injection, as side effects of an injection would be felt immediately in within a day — in terms of swelling and pain — and generally wears off in a few days. I would suggest that you first visit your physician and let the doctor see and examine the area to get a proper diagnosis.
