ULTRASONIC SCANNER IN NEXT GALAXY

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

With this year’s major flagships out of the way, all eyes are now on Samsung’s next big thing early next year. Rumours have already stated that the S10 will go for an edge- to- edge display without a notch and an in- display fingerprint sensor will be seen. However, one of the latest rumours regarding S10 has confirmed that Samsung is surely going ahead with an in- display sensor and some new technology in place. Tipster Ice Universe confirmed the presence of an in- display fingerprint sensor. However, unlike the optical sensors seen on Vivo, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Huawei, the S10 will use a drastically different technology that has been sitting on the shelves for a relatively long time and no one has used it. Samsung is reportedly opting for Qualcomm’s ultrasonic in- display fingerprint sensor for the S10. It is said to be 30% bigger than the existing sensors and considerably faster than the optical setups. The sensor will cover more area on the display. Both Samsung and Qualcomm are confident that the in- display technology will eventually replace the Iris Scanner on the Galaxy S10. This means that the in- display sensor will be the only way to unlock the phone, removing any sort of contact- less biometric verification. In fact, the technology will be exclusive to Samsung phones for a period of six months after the launch of the S10. Do note that the information is still a leak and isn’t confirmed by Samsung as yet.
