AIMMM writes to Prez Kovind, seeks intervention
For four- and- a- half years, why did PM Modi not pass a law for Ram temple. — Pravin Togadia, Former VHP leader
Aligarh: The All- India Muslim Majlis- e- Mushawarat ( AIMMM) on Sunday wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind, seeking his urgent intervention into the developments in Ayodhya, where the VHP has organised a public meeting to press for construction of a Ram temple. An umbrella body of more than a dozen Muslim religious and social organisations, the AIMMM said in its letter that the presence of “unruly mobs” in Ayodhya is a clear pointer to the way things are moving in an unchecked manner in Uttar Pradesh. The VHP has called for a dharam sabha, which is being touted as the largest congregation of ‘ Ram bhakts’ in Ayodhya since the 1992 kar seva. The organisers have claimed that more than 3 lakh devotees, including seers, will attend the meeting to be held at Bade Bhakt Mal Ki Baghia, not far from the controversial Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas- run workshop, where work for building a temple has been underway since 1990. the crowd gathered at his rally: “Will you vote on the basis of the caste of Modi? Will the future of Rajasthan be decided on basis of birthplace of Modi?”
Mr Modi’s remarks were a reaction to former Union minister C. P. Joshi’s statement in which questioned the caste of Mr Modi and others in a speech in Rajsamand district’s Nathdwara. Mr Joshi is the Congress candidate from Nathdwara Assembly constituency.
“They are deep neck involved in casteism. Casteism and feeling of hate against poor, deprived, underprivileged is in their veins and such statements reflect the basic behaviour and conduct of the Congress. It does not matter who spoke that ( Mr Joshi’s remarks) because everyone knows about the ‘ naamdaar’ who make them speak,” he said, apparently referring to the Gandhi family.
Mr Modi also targeted the Congress over issues and discrimination faced by dalits, saying the party “forgot” to give the Bharat Ratna to B. R. Ambedkar.
