Sushma rebukes Owaisi’s claims

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday emphatically stated in Lok Sabha that it goes to the credit of India’s diplomatic efforts that Pakistan has been isolated in the comity of nations.

Ms Swaraj while making a brief intervention during the discussion on motion of thanks on President’s address, said that it was only after India’s efforts across the world that the Financial Action Task Force has put Pakistan on its grey list for failing to curb antiterror financing.

“It is not India but Pakistan which has been isolated,” she said in a brief intervention.

The minister was reacting to AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s comments, who while participating in the discussion, slammed the nation’s foreign policy under the

NDA regime. He said that within the ambit of SAARC, India owing to its policies, has isolated itself from several nations in the grouping.

Mr Owaisi said that though India made efforts to isolate Pakistan within SAARC, it is in fact India which has created a schism between itself and other nations while Pakistan has managed to remain within the international mainstream.

The Hyderabad MP also attacked the Narendra Modi regime for its failure to tackle the Kashmir imboglio, and blamed it for not providing enough funds to give scholarships to several minority students.
