Director Sujoy Ghosh and producer Jayantilal Gada had a fall out after Kahaani went on to be a super hit. Apparently, Sujoy wanted a lot more money to direct the second part after the first one, being made on a small budget with Vidya Balan in the lead, went on to be a blockbuster.

Gada then wanted Kundan Shah, who was then alive, to direct the second part. But, Shah fell ill and soon passed away. Fortunately, Ghosh and Gada decided not to take any badla ( revenge) and decided to reunite for the sequel.

Now, Gada, who is also a distributor, has also picked up the distribution rights for the Sujoy Ghosh directed film Badla starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu under the banner of PEN Marudhar Entertainment.

Commenting on the same, Gada says, “Sujoy Ghosh is one of the biggest filmmakers in our country, who is known for helming movies with strong content. We are glad that after producing Kahaani and Kahaani 2 that were directed Sujoy, we will be distributing

The duo comes together again as Producer Jayantilal Gada picks up distributing rights of Sujoy Ghosh’s

Badla. I’m certain that the film will be as impressive as his earlier works.”

Badla is also produced by Shah Rukh Khan, whose last film Zero was also distributed by Gada in some territories.
