‘ Modi is destroying institutions’: PMO’s tweet goes viral
The official Twitter handle of the Prime Minister’s Office ( PMO) put out a series of tweets quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frontal attack on the Congress in Parliament on Thursday, but the language of some of the tweets seemed to suggest as if the Prime Minister was criticising himself.
The inadvertent gaffes left Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leaders and the PMO red faced as the underlying meaning got misconstrued and led to several adverse reactions from the Twitteratti.
“The Congress misuses Article 356 several times... but Modi is destroying institutions: PM,” read a tweet put out by the PMO’s Twitter handle.
The tweet was quoting the Prime Minister’s speech given on February 7, in Lok Sabha in which ◗ ◗ he was responding to the Congress charge that he was undermining key institutions.
Another tweet put out by the PMO Twitter handle said, “Think about it... Congress imposed Emergency, but Modi is destroying institutions... Congress insults Army, calls the Army Chief a Gunda but Modi is destroying institutions... Congress leaders create stories that Indian Army is doing a coup but Modi is destroying institutions: PM.”
Interestingly these tweets are still available on the timeline of the Twitter handle of PMO.
Another series of tweets read, “Congress questions the Election Commission ( EC) and Electronic Voting Machines ( EVM) but Modi is destroying institutions... Congress bullies the judiciary but Modi is destroying institutions... Congress calls Planning Commission a bunch of jokers... but Modi is destroying institutions: PM.”
