Couple arrested for duping investors of ` 30cr

A couple, declared proclaimed offenders in over a dozen cases, was arrested by the Delhi police for cheating people to the tune of ` 30 crore. The arrested duo were identified as Vinod Bansal ( 57) and his wife Preeti Bansal ( 56). They are also wanted in three cases, pending with CBI, and one with EOW of Delhi Police. During a check on proclaimed offenders, informatio­n was received that CBI had registered a case on January 29 against the husband- wife duo who are profession­al cheaters and were wanted in several cases across India, said DCP ( south) Vijay Kumar. The duo were arrested from Ghaziabad on Sunday after technical surveillan­ce was mounted and sources were deployed. Vinod, a native of Bhatinda, disclosed during interrogat­ion that he was arrested in a CBI case of “Group Housing Scam” and remained in custody for several months. He further disclosed that he was again arrested in 2016 along with his wife in several cases of cheating but was released on bail. He and his wife jumped the bail and never appeared in courts, police added.
