Xiaomi rolls out Redmi 7S

In a follow-up to its extremely successful Redmi Note 7 series of devices that were launched earlier this month, Xiaomi has added a new handset in this series — the Redmi Note 7S. This handset sits just below the Redmi Note 7 Pro and will be available in two configurat­ions — 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB. The top-end variant will cost `12,999 while the base variant has been priced at `10,999. The handsets will go on sale from May 23 on Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home stores.

Though this is a cost-friendly device, it comes with some interestin­g specificat­ions which include a 48MP primary sensor on the rear. That’s not all; the handset is also launched in an all-new Ruby Red variant that has the overall look and feel of the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

The Redmi Note 7S is fitted with an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC that’s clocked at 2.2GHz and it’s fitted with a 4000mAh battery that has Fast Charge support. The processor is paired with up to 4GB of RAM and a maximum of 64GB onboard storage. This dual-SIM handset runs on MIUI 10 that’s based on Android 9 Pie. ■ Following its launch in Spain last week, Asus is now getting ready to bring the ZenFone 6 smartphone to India. The device, which sports a flip camera module, has been listed on Flipkart as coming soon.

■ Lenovo is set to launch a lower variant of the Z6 Pro — Z6 Youth Edition — on May 22. The company has already rolled out a pre-order web page for the phone.

The rear camera on the Redmi Note 7S features a 48MP sensor with an F/1.8 lens and a secondary 5MP sensor. The handset has features that include PDAF, EIS and AI portrait mode. Up-front, there is a 13MP shooter with support for AI portrait mode and Face Unlock.
