With campaigning for the upcoming Assembly polls is in full swing, Bollywood film dialogues are coming in handy for political parties to take potshots at opponents.

In response to Natio-nalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar’s statement that he had never gone to jail, the BJP’s social media team invoked a famous line from the 2003 Bollywood flick, Munnabhai MBBS: “Bahut kuch life me first time hota hai.”

The BJP, which is well known for its potent social media campaigns, has also created a cartoon character ‘Ramya’ to make sarcastic comments on the activities of Opposition parties during the Assembly polls.

The character is the lead protagonist of a serial comic strip, ‘Ramyache Dose’, which roughly translates to ‘Comments from Ramya’. The comic strip has been running on social media since the last few days.

While introducing himself in the first edition of the series on September 20, Ramya sarcastically said that he had ‘tremendous love’ for the earlier government. “The leaders loved their people so much that the people finally decided to send them back to their homes in 2014 (polls). I would relive those memories,” he said.

It was Ramya who mocked Mr Pawar recently statement by invoking the famous line from the 2003 Sanjay Dutt-starrer.

Earlier too, Ramya had targeted the Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray over the Kohinoor Towers issue calling him a ‘Kotyadhish Jadugar’ (millionaire magician).

Speaking about the concept, Pravin Alai of the BJP media cell said, “The Opposition leaders have been making baseless allegations against the BJP government. But they have forgotten what they did when they were in power. To give them a fitting reply, we have started this campaign with the help of a cartoon character in a serial form.”
