Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Wednesday alleged that despite talls claims Arvind Kejriwal government has spent only 23.63 per cent of Budget for implementation of schemes, programmes and development projects. Mr Gupta claimed that slow speed of expenditure is due to tardy implementation of development schemes.

According to Mr Gupta, out of Budget outlay of `27,000 crore, the Kejriwal government has been able to spend only `6,380 crore and the tallclaim making Government has proved itself to be poor in performance.

“As per the information available on the Government website, the Kejriwal government has been able to spend 23.63 per cent of the budget outlay,” pointed Mr Gupta.

Mr Gupta observed that with only two and-a-half months left before the Model Code of Conduct comes into operation in view of the forthcoming Delhi Assembly Elections, it seems impossible that Delhi government will be able to spend the remaining 76 per cent the budget outlay.

“The AAP government has not been able even to open account of expenditure in many sectors. For instance, the allocation of `150 crore for energy sector remains untouched. Similarly, the allocation of `49 crore under tourism remains totally unspent. Under labour and labour welfare, an allocation of `321 crore was made but the government has been able to spend only `3.17 crores which comes to 0.99 per cent,” he said.
