The residence of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ officer on special duty (OSD) was attacked in Amravati town and a car parked outside was vandalised by a group of people on Monday.

The incident is being seen as fallout of the recent Assembly polls.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena alliance lost all six Assembly seats in Amravati district.

Officials said that no one was injured in the attack.

The official further said that at the time of the incident, the OSD,

Shrikant Bhartiya, was out with some family members.

Mr Bhartiya’s parents, however, were present in the house, which is located in the Rajapeth area of the Vidarbha town, around 690km from Mumbai, the official said.

He said that the group also vandalised the car of Mr Bhartiya’s brother Tushar, who is a BJP corporator in Amaravati.

Refusing to elaborate, the police said the attack was the fallout of the results of theAssembly elections declared last week.

On a complaint of Mr Bharatiya’s parents, an offence under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections related to house-trespass, rioting and criminal intimi-dation was registered at the Rajapeth police station, he added. Two of the attackers were identified and the police scanning CCTV footage to establish the identity of others involved in the incident.

The Asian Age repeatedly tried to contact Mr Bhartiya but he was not available for his comment.

Mr Bhartiya was the BJP war room head of the Maharashtra Assembly election in 2014. He was also an organisation secretary of the youth wing of the saffron party a decade ago.
