Ministers, RSS deliberate on agri, economic issues

Amid decreasing economic indicators, including low growth rate in the agricultur­e sector, the Rashtriya Swayamseva­k Sangh (RSS) on Thursday held a coordinati­on meeting with its affiliates, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and also some Union ministers.

Sources disclosed that economy, agricultur­e and its allied sectors were the main agenda of the meeting that lasted for more than three hours.

The RSS, sources said, also sought suggestion­s from its affiliates to check crop stubble burning, a major cause of air pollution and sough more assistance from the Centre’s in this regard.

RSS joint general secretary Krishna Gopal and head of its publicity department, Arun Kumar attended the meet.

From the BJP, its national working president J.P. Nadda, national general secretary Bhupendra Yadav and general secretary organisati­on BL Santosh attended the meet.

Besides, Union ministers including finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, agricultur­e and rural developmen­t minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Commerce and railways minister Piyush Goyal, labour and employment minister Santosh Gangwar and animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries minister Giriraj Singh attended the meeting.

Representa­tives of the Sangh affiliates including Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) and Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) also attended the meeting.

Sources disclosed that the Sangh affilates suggested that the next Union budget should focus more on agricultur­e, allied sectors, should have more incentives for promotion of domestic products and labour intensive sectors.
