New Delhi, Jan. 19: Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday slammed the Central government over the proposed visit of 36 Union ministers to Jammu and Kashmir. He called it an attempt by the BJP-led government to mislead people of the country about the situation of the Valley.

Attacking the government, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “It is an attempt made by the Government of India to mislead people of the country and the world. It is not that the people elsewhere should be satisfied but the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be satisfied.”

“As far as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, things have remained unchanged and things are going from bad to worst. There is no power, no electricity, no development work going on and everything is at standstill. Business is zero and almost 40 per cent of industries are closed,” said the Congress leader.

The government will send 36 Union Ministers to visit different districts of J&K to spread awareness about the importance of the Centre’s policies for the overall development of the UT and its people.

The ministers will also disseminate information about the various initiatives taken by the government for the development of the Valley after the abrogation of Article 370.

Earlier, Mr Azad have hit out at the government for not including Russia in the foreign diplomats’ delegation that visited Kashmir earlier this month.

“Russia is an old friend, it had to give a statement that it was not invited in the group of foreign diplomats that visited Kashmir,” Mr Azad said.

He said only those member countries were invited that will forward the government’s narrative.

He alleged that only those ministers and politicians met with the foreign delegation in Kashmir who have already held meetings with the government in Delhi.
