- AGE CORRESPONDENT

VIP movements, road show, protest, and Republic Day rehearsals threw traffic out of gear on several key stretches in the national capital on Monday. The commuters had a harrowing time while travelling in Delhi as they were juggling between alternate routes.

The roads around ITO were closed for traffic for hours for a major function of BJP at its party headquarters at DDU Marg where J.P. Nadda was elected as the new head of the saffron party.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal took out a roadshow from Valmiki Mandir near Gole Market to Patel Chowk Metro station, causing huge traffic jams near Connaught Place and Panchkuian Road.

Several students held a march from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar to protest the Citizenship

Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Rajpath, from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, was closed for traffic from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon for the Republic Day parade rehearsals.

Traffic movement was also restricted on Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Mansingh Road during this time. The rehearsal for Republic Day parade will also be held on

Tuesday.

The traffic at ITO intersection was severely hit and came to a halt as DDU Marg was closed due to the VIP movement at BJP office (national).

The Delhi police too issued a traffic advisory suggesting alternative routes to commuters due to Republic Day rehearsals that will continue till Tuesday and also requested motorists to have patience.
