■ THE AGENCY is also probing the role of some more officials of certain nationalised banks as part of investigation into the recently registered FIRs, sources said.

In a significant development in the multi-crore Srijan scam in Bihar, the CBI is all set to recommend departmental action against at least 6 senior public servants, including IAS officers, who are suspects or accused in the case.

According to sources investigations by the CBI have revealed that several cheques issued by the nationalised banks were allegedly transferred to different accounts of the accused NGO — Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti Limited of Bhagalpur district by the state government officials without verifying account details.

These suspected public servants allegedly played crucial role in diverting government funds to the accounts of Srijan, sources said adding that the agency will soon recommend departmental action against such officials, including IAS officers posted in the state.

The CBI has so far registered around 25 cases in connection with Srijan scam in which government funds worth several crores were allegedly embezzled by a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

Sources further said, “Investigators have collected material evidence against at least six senior officials of several departments, including social welfare department, of the state government.”

The agency is also probing the role of some more officials of certain nationalised banks as part of investigation into the recently registered FIRs, sources said. The CBI, sources said, is also planning to seek fresh clarifications from the family members of the president and secretary of the accused NGO.

The duo have already been named as accused in the CBI’s FIRs. The CBI had recently registered seven fresh FIRs against office-bearers of the NGO, officials of public sector banks and others . Those named in the FIRs, included NGO president Shubhlaxmi Prasad and secretary Rajni Priya (daughter-in-law of the late Manorama Devi, founder of Srijan).
