Naidu urges Opp. to find ‘some’ solution

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Urging the government and the opposition to sit together and resolve various issues for peaceful conduct of Parliament, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu on Friday said “come to some sort of a meaningful solution to see to it that the House functions very effectively because the country is watching what is happening in Parliament that too in the Budget Session.” Both Houses of Parliament have been witnessing angry scenes and uproar over Delhi violence and repeated adjournments.

Rajya Sabha was again adjourned for the day, barely 15 minutes later after it assembled in the morning as the opposition kept demanding discussion on the Delhi violence.

Earlier, Mr Naidu said a section of media “ignored” the “important debate” in the House on the spread of coronavirus and were “showing more interest in making other things as their headlines ignoring this,” while maintaining that deciding

headlines is the media’s prerogative. The Upper House on Thursday had discussed the spread of corona virus after a detailed statement by Union health minister Dr Harshvardhan.

Terming uproar in both Houses of Parliament over Delhi riots, Mr Naidu said. “What happened in this House or what is happening in the other House also is a matter of concern. I can only appeal to all, including the government and the Opposition, please discuss among yourselves and come to some sort of a meaningful solution to see that the House functions very effectively because the country is watching what is happening in Parliament that too in the Budget Session.”
