Mimi, her driver return from UK, lands in trouble
Actor-turned Trinamul Congress MP from Jadavpur Mimi Chakraborty, who returned from England on Tuesday, has gone under “self isolation” at home for two weeks as a precautionary measure in view of the coronavirus outbreak, hours after she was seen coming out of the Kolkata Airport without wearing a mask.
The absence of the mask instantly triggered a controversy among netizens in wake of the callousness and influence shown by the first corona virus patient of West Bengal, and his bureaucrat mother to dodge quarantine and isolation.
Mimi returned from the UK on Wednesday morning along with her driver Pritam. She had gone to
London for the shooting of her film Baazi.
“I have returned from a place in the UK via Dubai. So all the precautions have been taken. I have told my parents not to meet me at home. My father is above 65 years. The first seven days, I will be at home,” the Lok Sabha member told the media.
Although her co-star Jeet was seen leaving the airport wearing a mask, Mimi, who passed through “thermal screening” and other Covid-19 protocol, did not wear any such mask. In the evening she however made many tweets to explain why she did not wear a mask.
“And thank you for all your love nd concern, i am perfectly fine nd is under self isolation.meeting not even my parents, dogs nd house help. m using disposable plates (for now).Hope everything comes out in good shape.. And one more thing plzz dont spread rumour or panic. Be aware rest you know what to do. #covid_19,” she said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Mimi’s driver landed in trouble as his neighbours at Baranagar in northern outskirts of the city wondered why he also did not go under “selfisolation” like her. They even called the helpline number 100 and complained against Pritam of not taking precautions. Later, the police asked Pritam to stay at home.
