YES TO RELIEF

-

IT IS HEARTENING that the curtain has finally come down on the moratorium imposed on the troubled lender, Yes Bank. In a significant relief to depositors, the bank's administrator, Prashant Kumar, remarked that there is absolutely no issue on the liquidity front and all the ATMs and branches are brimming with cash. That there were more inflows than outflows in the last four days must also ease concerns. With domestic investors led by SBI, ICICI and HDFC pumping in `10,000 crores and the bank slowly limping back to normal, it is no surprise that the stocks zoomed 58 per cent on Tuesday amid the falling market.

BOLSTER INFRA

IN A CORONA scare that sees the dismantling of the boundaries between the ordinary and extraordinary, and the living and dead, the visionary Ayushman Bharat is a boon for the masses and a sureshot way to freedom from the catastrophic killer. Now is the right time for the government to give full support to Ayushman Bharat and allocate more funds to it as well as to the health sector so that medical services become more accessible to the masses including those living in rural areas. India's health coverage and penetration of the health infrastructure in villages is abysmal and the government invests only about 1.15 per cent of GDP in healthcare.

This could be India's crucial contribution to the fight against coronavirus. Vinod C. Dixit
