NCPCR seeks report on Shaheen Bagh

Returned from Indonesia recently; total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4 now

Another resident of Noida, who recently returned from Indonesia, has tested positive for the novel coronaviru­s, Gautam Buddh Nagar health officials said on Wednesday. The total number of positive cases for the Covid-19 in the district now stands at four. In Delhi, 10 positive cases, including a foreigner, have been reported so far.

In Gurugram, all malls, cinema halls gymnasiums, swimming pools, spas and weekly bazaars have been shut till March 31. Pharmacies and medical stores, grocery and supermarke­ts will remain open so that people can buy essentials.

The Gurugram administra­tion has also put restrictio­ns on mass gatherings. It has directed that more than 50 people will not be allowed at any social, cultural, political, religious, academic, sports, seminars, conference­s and family mass gatherings, including weddings. In its order, the administra­tion said, “All restaurant­s having in-dining facility are restricted to the capacity of 50 seats or more.”

The Delhi High Court said it was experiment­ing with holding court proceeding­s through video conferenci­ng in view of the pandemic and the system would probably be in place by next week.

The exam invigilato­rs should wear masks or cover face with handkerchi­efs during exams,” CBSE Controller of Exams Sanyam Bhardwaj said in an advisory. Chief medical officer, Noida, Dr Anurag Bhargava said that the total number of positive cases for the COVID-19 in the district now stands at four.

“The sample of this person, who lives in Sector 41 of Noida, was taken four days ago and he has tested positive for coronaviru­s. He has been admitted to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida for treatment,” Mr Bhargava said in a statement adding that the infected person’s house and nearby areas are being sanitised.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Wednesday wrote to the district magistrate of southeast Delhi to submit a report regarding the assembly of people in Shaheen Bagh protest site amidst the coronaviru­s outbreak.

In the letter, the NCPCR said it had received a complaint regarding the large gathering at the site in southeast Delhi which they said was taking place despite an advisory issued by the state and central government regarding safety and prevention for Covid-19.

The Delhi government has announced that any gathering — religious, family, social, political or cultural — of more than 50 people will not be allowed in the national capital till March 31 amid the coronaviru­s scare.

“You are kindly requested to take necessary action in view of the advisory issued by the state government,” the NCPCR letter said.
