6 cases in MP, C’garh govt orders shutdown
A new coronavirus positive case has surfaced in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, taking the total number of positive cases for Covid-19 in the state to 6.
A 24-year-old man, who returned to his home in Jabalpur from Dubai last week, tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday, a spokesman of Jabalpur district administration said on Monday.
He was admitted in the isolation ward of a local government hospital, the officer said.
Three days ago, four people tested positive for Covid-19 in Jabalpur.
While three of them belong to one family which returned from Dubai last fortnight, the other person returned from Thailand a week ago.
All the four people have been admitted to the isolation ward of a local government hospital.
A couple of days ago, a 26-year-old woman in Bhopal tested positive for coronavirus.
She had returned from London, where she was studying law.
She and her parents are at an isolation ward of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Bhopal.
Her condition is now stable, doctors treating her said.
Her parents on Sunday tested negative for coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government on Monday declared lockdown in cities of Bhopal, Narasinghpur, Dhar, Gwalior, Indore and Jabalpur for a week to check the spread of Covid-19.
These cities have been sealed completely.
In Chhattisgarh, at least eight cities have been put on lockdown mode till March 31 in view of the outbreak.
The state government has also ordered suspension of public and private buses, autos, e-rickshaws and taxis with immediate effect.
So far Chhattisgarh has recorded one confirmed case of coronavirus.
