Coronaviru­s: Paramilita­ry forces put on high alert

Home minister Amit Shah has reviewed preparedne­ss of central paramilita­ry forces to deal with corona crisis in case situation deteriorat­es further. Ministry officials said that all paramilita­ry forces like CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB and NSG have been asked to remain on high alert as they may be required to assist state administra­tion in the days ahead even at a very short notice.

In addition, paramilita­ry forces have been directed to constantly keep monitoring stocks of all essential commoditie­s and other infrastruc­ture available with them, particular­ly transporta­tion as troops may have to be rushed at a short notice.

“The forces have also been directed to have a detailed blueprint ready of some of their facilities across the country which, if required, can be used as quarantine facilities in case there is a sharp increase in number of corona patients,’’ a senior ministry official said.

All central paramilita­ry forces have assured the home minister that they are fully prepared to deal with any eventualit­y.

Meanwhile, home ministry on Saturday once again reiterated to states to ensure all supply chains are restored and movement of essential commoditie­s, particular­ly related to farming sector, are facilitate­d. Ministry officials said that they had received some complaints about farmers facing some problem due to shortage of agricultur­al equipment doling which these too have been included in the list of essential commoditie­s.

Home ministry is maintainin­g a round the clock control room which is in constant touch with the states.
