Amid the nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus, three sisters in Bihar’s Bhagalpur made a distress call to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and sought food and other relief material.

The matter is related to Khanjarpur village in Jagdishpur block of Bhagalpur. The three sisters who used to work as maids in their neighbourhood had been stranded inside their house without any work, money and food due to the nationwide lockdown.

Unable to find any help from their neighbours, they somehow managed to call the helpline number published in a local newspaper which connected them to the PMO.

After hearing their story, officials at PMO informed the state disaster management about their situation and urged them to extend all support to the girls. Officials here said that food and a dry ration for a week was provided to the girls immediately after the district administration came to know about their condition.

“Food, dry ration and clothes have been provided to these girls. They would not have suffered so much if neighbours and people known to them had informed the local police about their condition. Anyways, the state administration is monitoring the situation and is ready to extend all kind of support to them during the lockdown period”, Sonu Kumar Bhagat, Circle officer of Jagdishpur block, told reporters.
