Mayank dons his chef’s hat Lockdown brings out the chef in India’s right-hand opening batsman

- BIPIN DANI

Just a day ago, it was Ravindra Jadeja showing off his equestrian skills on his Instagram page. Now it is Team India’s 30-year-old righthand batsman Mayank Aggarwal who is showcasing his skills beyond cricket during these lockdown days.

BCCI recently posted a close to 3-minute long video, in which the 30year-old can be seen cooking “butter garlic mushroom with bell peppers and quinoa” at his Bangalore home as he whiles away time at home thanks to the Coronavirus outbreak.

In the video Mayank is seen cutting up the capsicums, garlic cloves, ginger, etc. and then put them in a cup with other ingredients such as cooked quinoa, salt, chilli flakes, cooked mushrooms and soya bean sauce to prepare his favourite dish. In the caption for the post, BCCI called the dish “awesome”.

The cricketer seems to have taken a cue from his teammate Ajinkya Rahane, who had also recently displayed his culinary skills, cooking coriander rice.

But as with anything a celeb does, Mayank’s video bore the brunt of his fans and followers’ current emotions — some funny, some just venting.

CATCHING UP WITH LIFE

Mayank’s posts also show him spending time playing cards with his family and friends. Then there are adorable pictures of him at his habit of reading with his wife Aashita — both on a hammock in their garden, reading a book each. “It’s not about how much time you spend with your family, it’s how you spend it. Do something together. Cook a meal, read a book, work out!” his caption read.

“This is @aashitasagarwal and me in our favorite place at home (sic),” said Mayank in his tweet.
