Man kills self after friend’s wife refuses to elope with him
A 27-year-old man shot himself, on Friday, after the woman he loved refused to go along with him, the police said.
He has been identified as Vicky, a resident of Kotla Mubarakpur, it said. On Friday, at around 11 am, the police received information regarding a quarrel at Swarn Jayanti Vihar, Tikri Khurd, the police said. During enquiry, it was found that Vicky went to meet a woman at Swarn Jayanti Vihar.
“The woman is the wife of one of Vicky’s friends. She has been staying at her maternal home at Swarn Jayanti Vihar since December 2019 as her husband is in jail,” a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, Vicky got close to the woman and started liking her. On Friday, he went to her home to meet her and asked her to come along with him. However, she refused, the officer said.
Thereafter, Vicky took out a pistol from his bag and shot himself at his chest. He said that he did not want to live without the woman so he took this step, the police said. He is admitted at the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. A case under relevant sections has been registered against Vicky, it added.
In another incident, a jilted lover allegedly murdered a 16-year-old girl and her brother in Kaushambhi in November last year. The accused allegedly barged into their house when the two victims were alone and a country-made pistol. During the investigation, the police found out that the girl and the accused were in a relationship but later she fell in love with another man. Upon realizing that the accused allegedly shot her to death.
