Sudhakar Reddy pushes for shooting pending films

- SURESH KAVIRAYANI

Sudhakar Reddy, one of the top producers, recently met Telangana State Cinematography Minister, T. Srinivas Yadav, in his capacity as the president of the Telugu Distributors Association. The duo’s discussions revolved around the Telugu Film shootings and about opening theatres to moviegoers. “The Minister responded in a positive manner when I requested permission for carrying on the shootings,” he says, adding that he also clarified to the minister that all the requisite safety measures at the shooting spots will be taken.

“The KCR Government has been working very effectively, and the minister has assured me that he will take our issue of shooting with the Chief Minister,” explains Sudhakar Reddy. He expects to get some update on the matter on Monday. “There are nearly 30 almost-complete films, and they need only 15 to 20 days to complete it. In the meantime, we plan to buy disinfection tunnels in bulk, which will be used at the shooting spots,” Sudhakar Reddy explains. Presently, the equipment costs close to `90,000, but the association is hoping to reduce the costs by buying it in bulk quantities. Then talking about how the industry also hopes to open theatres, Sudhakar adds, “When the lockdown was announced, we shut down shoots and theatres simultaneously. We are now hoping we can open both at once, too.” Incidentally, the producer’s son Nithiin, who is doing two films simultaneously, is ready to shoot.

“Yes, my son is ready to shoot once all the safety measures are in place,” he says, adding that the shoot can be conducted at a place such as RFC or in any other studio, with limited number of people, after which the post-production work can be done too.
