BJP will send ‘Thank You’ message to all contributors

- YOJNA GUSAI

The “world’s largest political party,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will be sending a “Thank You” message to all those who contributed to the PMCARES fund after its cadre reached out to them on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal, even as the party also used the occasion for expanding its support base.

While the reach-out campaign was to generate donations for the Covid-19 relief fund, the ruling party also used the occasion to increase its panIndia support base as the party cadre were also asked to reach out to maximum number of non-BJP members and “apolitical” people and also seek their assistance in “social causes” by the party during the Covid-19 lockdown and also post-lockdown.

The BJP, which had two crore members before 2014, now claims to have 18 crore members.

The party is preparing a data bank of these “nonBJP members” and “apolitical people,” which is still being tabulated, who will be send ‘Thank You’ messages and whose “assistance” will be sought for “social causes.”

In states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, the BJP cadre have reached out to more than three lakh people who contributed to the PM-CARE fund and “more than 40 per cent” of these were “non-BJP members.” During his address to the BJP cadre on the party’s 40th foundation day in April, Mr Modi had requested them to help the poor during the lockdown and also convince at least 40 people to contribute to the fund and also to convince them to download Aarogya Setu.
