With assembly elections slated to be held later this year, the BJP in Bihar has started planning to use the digital platform to reach out to its voters.

Talking to reporters in Patna on Monday, BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal said that Union home minister Amit Shah will kickstart the poll campaign for the Bihar assembly elections by addressing a “virtual rally” on June 9.

According to BJP leaders

here, the party is hoping to reach out a maximum number of voters through various digital means including video and audio conferencing.

While addressing a press conference on the first day of “unlock one”, Mr

Jaiswal said, “Our party is always ready for elections. During this time when there is a coronavirus crisis in the country, I have been in touch with our block and booth presidents through video and audio conferences”. He further clarified that “the virtual rally to be addressed by home minister Amit Shah can be seen as the beginning of our party’s digital election campaign. Our party has set a target of reaching out to at least one lakh people who would watch the event (e-rally) through video conferencing and on social media. In the coming days, you will also see more of our top political leaders holding public meetings and rallies using similar means.”

Reports suggest that the Prime Minister’s Mann ki Baat programme which was aired on Sunday turned out to be a big event for the BJP state unit here. Party insiders told this newspaper that around five lakh BJP workers and members of the newly formed Saptrishi unit listened to the programme.
