Producers worried about extra financial burden

They seem to be wondering if it’s a better idea to wait and watch, instead of resuming film shootings with the new guidelines that will increase the costs?

The Maharashtra government has given permission to resume film shooting, provided some guidelines are followed, and the Telugu Film Industry is awaiting a similar G.O. But many film producers are worried about the financial implications of the precautions that will be required.

Some of the top producers don’t want to talk about it officially, but they nevertheless feel that things won’t be as easy as they are being made out to be.

“We have to take lot of precautionary measures, including sanitising the entire set and providing PPE kits to personnel. All this will add to the financial burden of the producers. So, it’s not easy to resume film shooting,” says one producer who is making a big film. Another producer says it would be better to wait for a few more months to re-start shoots. “The Coronavirus cases are increasing every day and we have to wait till they reduce. Even if we take all precautions, there’s no guarantee that it will be safe. So, it’s better to wait for some more time,” he said.

The producers don’t want to say anything on record because talks are in progress between representatives of the Film Industry and the government.
