Unable to focus

-

When the mind is distracted, it tends to wander. The fear, anxiety and worrying — everything affects one's focus. We have woken up one day to realise that our routine has been disrupted abruptly. The fear of the unknown and feelings of anxiety that life is spiralling out of control are prevalent like dark clouds.

Suicide and the Ways to Prevent It. “While living through something as stressful as a global pandemic, anxiety causes the thoughts to wander about, making it extremely difficult for the mind to stay focused.”

The solution Dr Anjali suggests is interesting.

“Try to focus more on reading than on learning,” she says, “And discuss the situation with someone instead of feeling bad about it yourself.”

We wonder if the above advice is what works for writer-producer Vinita Nanda, who has been finding much-needed solace in reading and the soothing effect it has on the brain.

Vinita admits to us that reading helps her contain every anxiety-provoking thought in her mind. “I can imagine that many people are unable to read, but that’s not the case with me. I find much comfort in reading, writing and editing my web news portal The Daily Eye. That said, I can relate to the anxiety everyone is experiencing, and that includes me. The pictures, images, the experiences of fear and neglect are going to remain ingrained in people’s minds forever,” sums up Vinita.

Who knew that in a world amidst a pandemic, not only the virus but also emotions would be contagious?
