Woman in Kerala gangraped by husband’s friends
Victim was forced to drink liquor by husband, 5 arrested
Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking incident reported in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram city, a woman was gang raped allegedly by her husband’s friends with his connivance on Thursday. Five persons including the husband of the victim have been arrested. One person is absconding. The 23-year-old woman and mother of two, was also tortured with a cigarette butt. Her son was also thrashed.
In a shocking incident reported in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram city, a woman was gangraped allegedly by her husband’s friends with his connivance on Thursday.
Five persons, including the husband of the victim, have been arrested. One person is absconding.
The 23-year-old woman and mother of two, was also tortured with a cigarette butt. Her son was also thrashed.
The victim told mediapersons that she was given liquor forcibly by her husband. Thiruvananthapruam rural SP B. Ashok said the in camera statement of the victim has been taken.
The victim suspected that her husband took money from his friends to facilitate the heinous crime. She was taken to the friend’s house on Wednesday but nothing wrong happened. Again on Thursday, she was taken there on the pretext of going to the beach.
The husband and friends then consumed alcohol in the house. He made her drink forcibly. Subsequently, they left the house. But soon one of them returned and asked for water. He caught hold of the woman’s shoulder.
An elederly woman who was present in the house asked the victim to flee the place immediately to save herself.
While she was leaving the house with her son, the group of men returned and told her that her husband was creating trouble nearby. When she went there, they forcibly pushed her and the child into a vehicle.
She was sexually assaulted in an isolated place in front of her child.
The victim later became unconscious. On regaining consciousness, she found that her clothes were taken off and the child had also been beaten up .
She pleaded with them to allow her to leave the child at home. But they insisted that she should return. The woman agreed and ran towards the road along with the child.
A vehicle which was passing by rescued them and took them home. Subsequently, her husband tried to put pressure on her to not file complaint with police. However, the victim and her mother did not yield, following which police came and registered the case.
Charges are also being framed against the accused under POCSO Act as the sexual assault was carried out in front of the child.
