‘This is Demon 2.0’: Rahul slams Centre
New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday charged the Central government of “destroying the economy” by not giving cash support to people and MSMEs as suggested by the party. Senior leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “Government is actively destroying our economy by refusing to give cash support to people and MSMEs. This is Demon 2.0.”

In his conversations with leading world economists and captains of industry over the last few weeks, Mr Gandhi has regularly broached the topic of putting money in the hands of people. While some have suggested that putting money in the hands of people will boost demand and trigger growth, others have advocated waiver of loans for small businesses in one quarter.
The party has been accusing the Central government of not doing enough for people who have suffered the most in the lockdown. It has made several suggestions to the Central government but believes that these suggestions have not been taken up. Earlier, the party had demanded the announcement and immediate release of a new financial assistance package that would put money in the hands of people. Citing the CMIE report, the party said that if immediate steps to alleviate financial distress are not taken, the country is going to face an unprecedented situation.
