India records 12,881 fresh Covid cases in last 24 hrs

India once again saw biggest spike in one day after 12,881 fresh cases of coronaviru­s were detected in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in India stands at 3,66, 946 as per the Union health ministry and the total number of deaths is 12, 234, out of which 334 deaths were reported since Wednesday evening.

The government figures showed that 7,390 patients were discharged in a day and a total of 1,94,324 patients have been cured so far, taking the recovery rate to 52.96%. At present, 1,60,384 patients are under medical supervisio­n.

Maharashtr­a, Delhi and Tamil Nadu continue to report higher number of cases and deaths and testing has been intensifie­d in these states.

Of the 334 new deaths, 114 were in Maharashtr­a, 67 in Delhi, 48 in Tamil Nadu. Delhi has cut down the cost of testing from `4,500 to `2,400 and introduce Rapid antigen testing kits.

The city reported 2,414 fresh cases taking its tally to 47,102 and 1904 death with 67 fresh fatalities.
