- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Arunachal East BJP MP Tapir Gao on Thursday claimed that China’s People’s Liberation Army had intensified patrolling along the Line of Actual Control, but at the same time said the Indian Army was also guarding the border in Arunachal Pradesh.

Mr Gao said: “There have been numerous instances when the PLA transgressed into our territory, but now it shouldn’t be tolerated. The Indian government should be ready for any kind of eventualities, not only in Arunachal Pradesh but even in Sikkim, Himachal and Uttarakhand.”

He, however, asserted that presence of the Indian Army was equally visible along the international border.

A BJP MP from Arunachal East, Tapir Gao, on Thursday claimed that China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has intensified patrolling along the Line of Actual Control but at the same time Indian Army was also guarding the border parallelly with its counterpart in the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal Pradesh shares 3,488-km international border with China.

“There have been numerous instances when PLA transgressed into our territory but now it should not be tolerated. The Chinese are still active along the international border and India should be ready for any kind of eventualities not only in Arunachal Pradesh but even in Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand,” Mr Gao, who also launched a massive campaign in the frontier state to boycott the Chinese product, told this newspaper.

He, however, asserted that the presence of the Indian Army was equally visible along the international border.

Expressing deep anguish over the Galwan Valley incident, which resulted in at least 20 deaths on the Indian side, Mr Gao said, “We should not trust Chinese Army. They can go to any extent. So we, in Arunachal Pradesh, are of the view that the presence of the Indian Army should be further intensified.”

The BJP MP said that after 1962, China had indulged in its “expansion policy”, and had established infrastructure and roads by occupying many areas.
