last 24 hours. Death toll now stand at 2,112. There are 23,340 active cases and so far 31,294 patients recovered from Covid including 7,725, highest recovery in a day, in laat 24 hours. Withdrawal of mandatory quarantine came hours after the Delhi government claimed that it would lead to chaos. The L-G in a statement said that the issue of mandatory institutional quarantine was also discussed in the detail and as the government has started an intensive community based rapid testing, it is possible that individuals who are positive may have moderate to severe illness necessitating hospitalization which can be missed if they are home isolated.

“To prevent this from happening, all individuals who are positive will be referred to the Covid care centers for assessment of clinical conditions, the severity of illness and the presence of co-morbidities. Simultaneously, a physical assessment will also be done whether adequate facilities for home isolation exist so that the family members are protected and a cluster of cases does not develop in that locality,” the statement added.
