- RABINDRA NATH CHOUDHURY

A famed tigress of Panna tiger reserve (PTR) in Madhya Pradesh, known for her friendliness with visitors, is no more.

A tracking team of the PTR on Sunday found her dead in Talgaon forest circle, PTR field director K.S. Bhadouria said.

However, the cause of her death was yet to be ascertained.

Sources said the big cat was spotted in the forest rest house in Panna last month and was in a healthy condition.

“A team of forest officials along with a veterinary doctor has reached the spot. Postmortem report can alone throw light on the cause of her death”, a senior forest officer here said.

The ten-year-old tigress was very popular with wildlife enthusiasts since she invariably appeared before them whenever they visited Panna tiger reserve “at any point of time.”
