B-town’s customised movie masks

-

Now that every person across the globe will have to incorporate a facemask into their sartorial choices, filmmakers too will have to make sure that their crews are wearing their masks on set. And what better than to get masks made with the logo and the poster of the movie that is being shot?

For instance, Nikkhil and Monisha

Kumar — have readied the poster of the film, which is going to be shot in August. “So when the shooting is on, everyone on set and the shooting team would be easily identifiable by their masks. The other thing is that they will adhere to all safety norms as well,’ says an industry source. Just recently, Amitabh Bachchan too decided to sport a mask which had the poster of his last release Gulabo Sitabo, and posted pictures of it on his daily blog as part of his entertainment routine. He also coined a Hindi name for the mask which was nothing less than a tongue twister. “Traditionally Bollywood has been using Tshirts and caps on the sets and even jackets at times for all unit hands, so that they could stand out among the crowd as well. And these days, it will be tougher to identify onlookers who enter a set because everyone is wearing a mask. The mask with the film name and poster imprinted on it will be easier for the staff members to also be recognised,” says veteran writer and film historian Imtiaz Baghdadi.

Interestingly, just as the coronavirus had hit India and Mumbai, Anil Kapoor was seen wearing a mask at the success party of the film Malang.

Bollywood stars have been doing the paparazzi rounds with their masks and sometimes even with gloves on, especially as the coronavirus brought the film industry to a grinding halt for now.
