Odisha villagers kill croc, distribute meat

Bhubaneswa­r: Cruelty to animals crossed all limits at Kaldapalli under Padia police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district as some locals killed a crocodile and distribute­d the meat among villagers. Videos and photos of the incident have gone viral on social media. According to reports, some youths of the locality brought a 10-feet-long crocodile from a nearby Saveri river to the village and tied the reptile. They hanged the animal from a tree, following which locals gathered at the spot to see the crocodile. After the death of the reptile, the youths distribute­d the meat among some villagers. Till last reports came in, the forest department had constitute­d three special teams and sent to the Kaldapalli village to investigat­e into the killing of the reptile. “We have constitute­d three teams and sent them to Kaldapalli to investigat­e to find out who killed the crocodile,” a local forest range officer said.
