CDS Gen. Rawat likely to meet Army officers in Ladakh today

Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat is reported to be visiting Ladakh on Friday to review the ground situation.

However, the visit has not been officially confirmed.

Gen. Rawat will hold meeting with local commanders to look at the preparedness of the Army in face of a stand-off with China, said sources. Gen Rawat will also be visiting forward areas in the Ladakh sector.

Earlier defence minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to visit Ladakh on Friday but his visit has been rescheduled.

Last week Indian Army chief Gen. M.M. Naravane had visited Ladakh for two days to access the situation.
