K’taka sees 1,502 new corona cases

Bengaluru: Karnataka on Thursday recorded a biggest single day spike of 1,502 new Covid-19 cases and 19 related fatalities, taking the infection count to 18,016 and the death toll to 272, the health department said. The day also saw 271 patients getting discharged after recovery. Out of 1,502 fresh cases reported on Thursday, a whopping 889 cases were from Bengaluru urban alone. The previous biggest single-day spike was recorded on July 1 with 1,272 cases. As of July 2 evening, cumulatively 18,016 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 272 deaths and 8,334 discharges, the health department said in its bulletin.
